Code 128, described in ISO/IEC 15417, is good at encoding alpha-numeric data and numeric-only data. Code128 has three subsets: code128A, code128B and code128C.
Code 128A is used to encode uppercase alpha and control characters.
Code 128B is used to encode both uppercase and lowercase alpha and numeric data.
Code 128C is used to encode numeric-only data.
Code 128 has many variations, such as EAN 128 and ISBT 128. Since 2004, use of UCC/EAN Code128 symbology is mandatory for printing barcode labels of Confirmation Services. USS Code128 also uses subset C to print barcode.
Code128 is able to encode the entire ASCII table. With Barcodesoft Keyboard Wedge Emulation program and a USB scanner, you can emulate any special character input into your system.
A check digit is always required by Code 128. When you use Barcodesoft Code128 font to print bar code, please use our Encoder to calculate checksum for you. You can also find source code in VBA and C language of checksum calculation for different subsets of Code128: Code128A, Code128B, Code128C and UCC/EAN-128.
There are 28 code128 barcode fonts provided in the package as listed below, marked by different trailing indicators. Barcodesoft code128 fonts vary in aspect ratios. Those code128 fonts with "Hr" in their names have human readable text printed underneath code128 barcode.

Data Matrix is a two-dimensional matrix bar code symbology.
Data Matrix barcode symbol is made up of square modules either black or white.
Usually Data Matrix symbols are black printed on white background, users can also print them as white upon black background.
DataMatrix is a well-designed symbology that is able to encode both 128 ASCII characters (ANSI X3.4) and values 128 to 255 characters, known as extended ASCII (ISO 8859-1).
Data Matrix is able to encode up to 1000 alpha-numeric characters. Therefore, Data Matrix is a good solution for encoding large quantities of data in one barcode symbol.
The unique finder pattern and module placement algorithm makes Data Matrix bar code symbol amazingly gorgeous.
Barcodesoft Data matrix printing solution used Reed Solomon algorithm to implement ECC 200 level of error checking and correcting.
In order to get smallest codewords stream, Data Matrix apply different encodation scheme to different data.
There are 6 encodation schemes in Data Matrix as listed below:
ASCII encodation is the default scheme that encodes ASCII data.
C40 encodation turns 3 alphanumeric characters into 2 codewords.
Text encodation is used to encode lowercase characters.
ANSI X12 encodation is used to encode standard ANSI X12 electronic data interchange characters.
EDIFACT encodation encodes 4 characters into 3 codewords.
Base 256 encodation is used to encode 8-bit byte data.
ECC200 has 30 symbol size and shape configurations. User may select one to suit specific application requirement. Otherwise, the smallest possible configuration will be used by Data Matrix encoder.
